We Are Tabernacle
OUR MISSION
The mission of Tabernacle Baptist Church, under the leadership of the Holy Spirit, is to
• proclaim the Good News
• nurture Christian growth
• minister to others in Jesus’ name
Our people meet weekly for worship on Sunday morning. The worship style is traditional; however, periodic participation by our praise team adds a contemporary aspect to the music in those services. Through Bible-based preaching, Spirit-led prayer and uplifting music, we seek to magnify the name of Jesus Christ. Wednesday evenings are devoted to prayer, Bible study and discussion groups. In addition to special services at Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas, we seek to welcome members of the community to our fellowship through such activities as the Community Day on the Hill, Fall Festival and the Living Christmas Tree. Opportunities are also provided for outreach through domestic and international youth and adult mission trips. Our Reflections Choir for seniors proclaim the Good News at the N. C. State Fair and other venues.
We believe that solid grounding in Bible study is essential to Christian growth; therefore, Sunday School classes for children, youth and adults are a key part of our Sunday activities. Small group Bible studies at the church and in members’ homes throughout the week provide additional opportunities for challenging Bible study. Vacation Bible School seeks to include children from the community in this traditional method of introducing children to Jesus Christ and encouraging their growth in the faith. The Tabernacle Learning Center for Preschoolers provides a loving and nurturing atmosphere for children from the church and community. At the opposite end of the life cycle, the 55+ Club offers seniors opportunities through monthly fellowship meetings and frequent adventure trips both in and out of state.
In response to God’s love, we seek to minister to others in Jesus’ name. The Tabernacle Linen Closet has provided towels, sheets, blankets and other linens to those referred by Wake County Human Resources and other service agencies since 1978. Both our youth and adults assist frequently in feeding the homeless in the South Wilmington Street Men’s Shelter. The Baptist Men of Tabernacle have equipped a disaster relief trailer and are prepared to respond where needed. During the Christmas season we joyfully participate in the Operation Christmas Child project of Samaritan’s Purse.
