WMU
Tabernacle's WMU is composed of three organizations: the Baptist Women, the GAs, and Mission Friends.
Our organization exists for the purpose of keeping our women and children aware of and involved in the mission opportunities around us.
BAPTIST WOMEN meet the first Tuesday of each month at 10:30 a.m. in the church dining hall, with Joyce Rose as our president. We serve light refreshments, have a program concerning mission needs/opportunities for our education and support, and we participate in various mission projects during the year. Among our projects this past year, we supplied blankets for our church's Linen Closet, brought underwear/socks/snacks for homeless men at Cornerstone Ministries, provided a birthday party in November for ladies at the Women's Correctional Center, brought OTC medical supplies for the Raleigh Rescue Mission, and made financial gifts to Urban Ministries, Christian Women's Job Corps and a number of other groups who seek to help those in need. We also help promote our church's food collection for our NC Baptist Children's Homes each spring, and the gathering of shoebox gifts for Operation Christmas Child in November.
GAs (GIRLS IN ACTION) are a group of 1st - 6th grade girls who study about missions and do missions on Wednesday nights from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the church. They also attend mission camps for the girls and their mothers, as well as participate in other activities related to their interests. Judy Casteen and Joelle Craig are their leaders.
MISSION FRIENDS, for children 3 - 5 years old, meets on Wednesday nights from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. at church. They study about missionaries and make items relating to the mission work they are studying. Their leader is Mary Brown.
